Do you have cable or satellite TV, internet or a mobile phone? In this day and age it would seem hard to find someone who doesn’t. TV subscriptions, internet plans and cellphones have taken over as the main forms of entertainment most people are getting these days. Whether we’re looking to escape or stay in contact with others who are far away, stay up-to-date on the latest TV shows or “see” a loved one on the screen, there’s no denying that internet, TV and mobile phones have helped shape the way we spend out free time these days.

Interesting Fact: For many, the internet and the entertainment that it provides is a large, integrated part of everyday life. Many people may wake up and immediately check their mobile phone or use their internet to scroll for messages or news. It’s a fact of life that for many of us, our use of technology is so fully enmeshed in our lives that we don’t give a second thought to the bills that come with those benefits.

How Much Are You Really Paying?

Take a second and think about how much all of your bills at home for internet, TV, home security, mobile phone and radio cost. Do you know? Did you negotiate the price down when you signed up? For most people, they might not know how much they’re paying, or for exactly what or what better offers are out there. They could simply be wasting money they don’t need to waste. That’s where BillShark comes in, a bill negotiating service which can help you save money. Read on for our comprehensive BillShark review.

BillShark: How Does it Work?

Founded in 2015, BillShark is on a mission to help people take back control of their bills. Their process is quick and easy to complete. However, there are just a few things you need to know before you get started. For instance, here’s how it works.

1. Download BillShark App

The very first step in the process is to download the BillShark app on your mobile device. Luckily, BillShark is available on both iOS and Android. All you need to do is find it, click install and then you’ll be prepared for the next step.

2. Snap and Upload Pictures of Bills

The next step is to find all the bills you have which pertain to payments for cable TV, satellite TV, satellite radio, wireless phone, internet access and home security. If you pay for any of those things then snap a picture of it. Make sure the image quality is good, focused and well-lit. Then upload those photos using the BillShark app.

3. Sharks Do The Work

From there, the company’s “sharks” will track down the details of each bill and negotiate to see if they can get you a cheaper price or way to save money. As BillShark notes, their “sharks” have an 85 percent success rate of negotiating bills to save people money.

4. You Reap the Savings

The savings that the “sharks” do find are sent back to you, with 40 percent kept as BillShark’s cost of doing business with you. It’s money you weren’t planning on getting back anyways, and probably wouldn’t have gone about trying to get back because you didn’t know about it. So, the 40 percent fee of the savings for BillShark seems completely reasonable.

Billshark’s “One Bill, One Child” Program

BillShark has started a “One Bill, One Child” program aimed at helping middle school students. Here’s how it works. For every bill submitted to BillShark, the company will pay for a child to get an hour of instruction in personal finance basics provided by Ramsey Solutions. The goal is to empower the students by teaching them the financial strategies and facts they need in order to become independent, financially successful adults. During the 2017-2018 school year, more than 1,000 students completed the program. Looking ahead, BillShark has set a goal of educating one million children by 2025.

BillShark Pros

Before deciding whether or not to go forward with BillShark, you probably want to know some of the pros and cons associated with the app and company. You may be wondering, “Is BillShark legit?” Well, here are the pros for this Billshark review.

1. High Consumer Ratings

When sorting through BIllShark reviews, sometimes looking at the star reviews is the easiest and fastest way to get a snapshot of what the company is really like. In this case, BillShark rates well in both their app stores, BirdEye and in Consumer Affairs, a smart-buying review site.

  • In the Apple app store for BillShark, their rating is 4.2 stars out of 232 reviews, at the time of writing.
  • In the Android app store for BIllShark, their rating is 3.5 stars out of 13 reviews, at the time of writing.
  • On Consumer Affairs, BillShark is rated 4.6 stars out of 79 reviews, at the time of writing.
  • On BirdEye, BillShark has an average of 4.9 stars out of 1,279 reviews, at the time of writing.

So, BillShark reviews place it between 3.5 and 4.6 stars on average. Certainly, the 3.5 rating may be due to lower reviewer count (13) which may have a few low ratings which more significantly impact the score. Because when you look at the star rating with more reviewers, the star rating improves to 4.2, 4.6 and 4.9.

2. Availability

In this day and age, you may expect all apps and services to be available for both iOS and Android consumers. Luckily, BillShark is available for both iOS and Android users.

3. Giving Back

BillShark’s “One Bill, One Child” program is about giving back by providing knowledge to young learners. For every bill that is submitted to BillShark, they pay for one child to receive one hour of financial education via Ramsey Solutions. Their goal is to help empower younger children by giving them the financial knowledge they need to become financially successful adults. More than a thousand young learners completed the program during the 2017-2018 school year and BillShark has pledged to educate a million students by 2025.

4. Quick and Easy

The BillShark process has been streamlined for maximum ease and efficiency. Once you download the app for iPhone or Android then it takes just moments to start uploading images of your bills. From there, BillShark’s “sharks” do the work for you, searching for deals and sending you back the savings they found. You don’t need to lift a finger — well, not more than the fingers it takes to send the pictures.

5. Motivated “Sharks”

If BillShark “sharks” don’t find you any savings, then they also don’t make any money. No savings for you means they earn a 40 percent cut of $0. As such, the company’s “sharks” are highly motivated to find you savings. It’s as simple as that. Having motivated people work on finding you ways to save money means that they won’t leave any stone unturned.

BillShark Cons

So, is BillShark legit? In order to answer that, you also need to know about some cons associated with the company, app and services. Here’s what we’ve managed to find.

1. Changing Plans

Of course, the entire point of BillShark is that they will look through your bills from current plans and subscriptions in order to find ways of lowering your bills and saving you money. However, some reviewers mention that BillShark has modified or changed their subscriptions in order to “save” money.

Pro Tip: They key here is that those reviewers weren’t notified or asked if they wanted the change. Sometimes it may have been taking a promotional offer and signing up for a discounted service (which the customer may not want in the first place). Other times, it involved removing elements from current plans in order to drop the price (elements the customer may have wanted left intact). While not the norm throughout reviews, this way of changing plans is definitely something to keep in mind when considering BillShark.

2. 40 Percent Cut

BillShark takes 40 percent of your savings when they find them. It really depends how you view the entire process. In the first place, if were honestly never going to search for these savings or saving options, then you’re getting 60 percent of the savings when before you would have got $0. So, no matter what you’ll be making more than what would have happened if you’d done nothing. Yet, for some, the 40 percent cut may seem like a lot. It’s up to each individual consumer to reason out if they’re really going to spend the time price hunting and sale searching on their own or if the 40 percent charge is worth it.

Why pay more for internet, TV and cellphone when you don’t have to? Find the best deals and save money today with BillShark.

The Verdict

So, is BillShark legit? After this BillShark review, it’s clear that yes the company is legitimate. From its high ratings to its easy to navigate app and motivated “sharks,” its clear that BillShark wants to do everything they can you help you find savings. In fact, in an interview with BusinessWire, BillShark CEO, Steve KcKean, has noted that the company’s future goal is to “save consumers and small businesses more than $2.7 billion by 2025.” Since launching in 2016, BillShark has saved people more than $10 million, and the average customer about $300 each year. Are you going to be one of them?

Company is full of scammers. They’re threatening to send my invoice to collections when I didn’t want to even use them and stopped all communications. Absolute trash company.
