MyPoints Review: What Is MyPoints?
MyPoints has been providing rewards since 1996, making it one of the older survey sites. It has gradually become one of the most popular options.
Like other survey sites, MyPoints charges brands a fee in exchange for audience data. The company passes some of that money on to you through the points system in an effort to get enough responses for the client. Companies in nearly every industry need to perform market research, so MyPoints offers surveys on a wide range of topics.
Unlike some of its competitors, MyPoints gives you a variety of opportunities aside from surveys. This allows you to earn even more points without growing tired of just taking surveys.

MyPoints Review: How Does It Work?
Signing Up
Creating a MyPoints account is as simple as entering your email address and creating a password. Unfortunately, some rewards are available only in Canada and the United States.
After creating an account, you can enter more information about yourself to start taking surveys. This data is used to identify surveys you could qualify for, so it should be your first step after registration.
Taking Surveys
Once you’ve answered the profile questions, you can start qualifying for surveys. MyPoints will email you when there’s a new survey, and you can view available surveys using the website or app. While survey availability can be unpredictable with any site, most users have no trouble finding enough surveys.
Most MyPoints surveys take roughly 10 minutes to complete, although some are shorter or longer. You can see the point reward for each survey before taking it. This feature helps you avoid surveys that don’t offer enough money to be worth the time.
In addition to the website, you can also work on surveys in the mobile app. The MyPoints app is available on both the App Store and Google Play. Keep in mind that surveys aren’t the only way you can earn MyPoints rewards.
You should receive consistent notifications for new surveys, so you don’t need to check the website to make money. That said, many invitations are for surveys with relatively limited rewards. You can search for more lucrative surveys using the website or app.
Earning MyPoints Rewards
Like many other survey sites, MyPoints gives you rewards in the form of points. In turn, you can redeem points for a variety of options including gift cards and cash through PayPal. While cash is more flexible than a gift card, gift cards are available for lower prices than PayPal credit.
In contrast to some alternatives, MyPoints points aren’t equivalent to an even amount of money. A $25 gift card, for example, costs 3,650 points, which works out to about 68 cents per 100 points.
While it takes some time to earn substantial rewards, you’ll get there more quickly with a $5 sign-up bonus. In fact, you could redeem your first gift card within a few weeks of signing up. The more surveys you take, the more opportunities you’ll have to earn points.
MyPoints Review: Other Opportunities
The website provides points for a variety of actions beyond surveys, including some that you would do for free. While surveys alone usually aren’t enough to earn much money, you could generate a surprisingly high income by taking advantage of everything MyPoints offers.
These are some of the ways you can make money with MyPoints.
MyPoints Rewards: Shopping
MyPoints provides some of the most valuable shopping rewards of any free site. It’s easy to earn a significant amount of cash back with MyPoints. The site partners with many popular businesses, so you can make money simply by shopping with your usual brands. Currently supported retailers include Amazon, Best Buy, Macy’s, Groupon, and many more.
These deals typically give you a given number of points for each dollar you spend. Many offers go up only to a certain maximum, so don’t expect to earn unlimited points while shopping. Offers are constantly changing, so make sure to check the site regularly for the latest rewards.
MyPoints Rewards: Videos
Watching videos is another easy way to earn MyPoints rewards. The platform offers videos on a variety of topics, so you can find videos that interest you. Video categories include news, entertainment, health and wellness, technology, music, and more. While you won’t earn much per hour, it’s still a lot more than you usually make while watching videos (which is probably nothing).
MyPoints tells you exactly how long each video is, along with how many points you’ll earn. This is a great way to make a dollar or two during your commute. Keep in mind that you need internet to watch videos โ you won’t be able to earn points on the subway.
MyPoints Rewards: MyPoints Games
Game tournaments for cash are one of the most unconventional ways to make money on MyPoints. You can buy a $1 entry fee for just four points, giving you free entry to a paid event. Tournaments and payouts are managed by WorldWinner.
WorldWinner runs tournaments for numerous games in many different genres. Some of the most popular options are Angry Birds, Bejeweled, Scrabble, and Solitaire. If you’re skilled at these or any other game, considering using your points to enter tournaments.
MyPoints Rewards: Deals
MyPoints also provides rewards for various other actions, and different offers are available every week. Current examples include a 5,000-point bonus for subscribing to BarkBox, 3,500 points for making a monthly donation of $15 or more to the Sierra Club, and 3,000 points if you sign up for a month of Bluprint.
These point rewards don’t make it worth doing something you’re not interested in. On the other hand, they allow you to get a better deal if you would have made the purchase anyway. Make sure to check the MyPoints website before subscribing to a new service or making a major purchase.
MyPoints Review: Is MyPoints Legit?
MyPoints isn’t intended to help you earn more than a little extra money. That said, it’s one of the most effective options if you’re looking to supplement your income.
The platform goes well beyond its competition in a number of key areas. These are some of its most notable advantages compared to other survey sites that we found while working on this MyPoints review.
Options
As mentioned above, MyPoints provides one of the widest varieties of any survey platform. The sheer number of ways in which you can earn points sets it apart from the alternatives.
If you get bored of taking surveys, you can always switch to another method like watching videos or playing games. Most other survey sites are much more limited. Having access to multiple rewards options also gives you the opportunity to earn even more money.
Payout Flexibility
Some survey sites offer rewards only in the form of gift cards, severely limiting your options. With a gift card, you can spend the money you earn at only a few select stores.
MyPoints allows you to redeem your points either in a gift card or as cash. Furthermore, members can use their points to enter game tournaments. Whatever reward you’re interested in, you can find it with MyPoints.
Screener Rewards
MyPoints and other platforms use screener surveys to determine if you qualify for the full-length survey. Getting screened out can be extremely frustrating, which is why MyPoints gives you five points whenever you fail to qualify.
While five points isn’t as much as you could earn by taking an entire survey, it ensures that you’ll never waste your time on MyPoints. Even just five points will add up to significant rewards if you consistently take screener surveys. Unfortunately, the website limits you to 25 total reward points each day for taking screeners.
Mobile Access
Fitting in surveys on your phone is typically much more convenient than trying to take them on a computer. Without a mobile app, it’s tough to take enough surveys to earn the rewards you’re looking for.
Fortunately, MyPoints offers a free mobile app with an intuitive interface that’s easy to use. You can download the application on either the App Store or Google Play. It allows you to view ways to earn rewards, take surveys, find deals, and more.
Low Minimum Rewards
It takes time to accumulate MyPoints rewards, so it’s nice to be able to redeem small amounts. If you’re interested in an Amazon card, for example, you can withdraw points with a minimum of $3.
On the other hand, a low minimum payout doesn’t impact your ability to earn rewards. This won’t make a difference if you’re OK with waiting. That said, MyPoints is a great website to use if you’d rather get rewards more quickly.
Referrals
Referrals are one of the best ways to earn extra money on survey sites. MyPoints offers a Refer-A-Friend program that gives both you and your friend benefits whenever they use your referral link.
Once your referral joins the site, you’ll earn 750 points if they make a purchase of at least $20. They’ll receive 1,750 points themselves, so this is a great deal for both sides.
Keep in mind that the purchase must be made within 30 days of signing up. Purchases from Amazon, MyPoints Games, and other excluded options aren’t eligible. New users are limited to one sign-up bonus, so they can’t earn more points by using multiple referrals.
MyPoints Score
MyPoints Score is one of the site’s most unique features, and it’s a great tool for any online shopper. The extension automatically checks each purchase for any available rewards along with active promo codes.
MyPoints Score works similarly to Honey, with the added bonus of identifying rewards. With other platforms, you might make a purchase without realizing you could have used it for points.
MyPoints Review: Is MyPoints a Scam?
MyPoints is entirely legitimate, and you can trust the site to pay out rewards and protect your data. That said, it also has several important flaws you should know about before signing up.
These are a few of the top drawbacks that we uncovered when writing this MyPoints review.
Reward Limits
While MyPoints offers countless ways to earn rewards, some of these options are more limited than others. The website caps your earnings at a certain number of points to keep you from cheating the system.
Screeners, for example, give you five extra points each time you miss out on the longer survey. That said, you can earn up to just 25 points per day with screeners. In other words, you will only receive rewards on the first five screeners you take.
Fortunately, you can earn unlimited rewards as long as you continue to refer new users. You’ll get 750 points each time your friend makes a qualifying purchase. This is one of the most effective methods of earning a sustainable income with MyPoints.
Accessibility
MyPoints is perfect for users in the United States and Canada, but it doesn’t provide any support outside these countries. Most survey platforms are available in many more locations, so look into other options in your area if your country isn’t supported.
Confusing Points System
Like many other rewards providers, MyPoints uses points to quantify your balance. Unlike those others, there’s no simple way to convert MyPoints points into cash. The vast majority of other rewards systems are set up so that one point is equivalent to one cent.
While there’s nothing outright misleading about this practice, it can be a little confusing at first. You might assume that 100 points add up to one dollar, but that actually isn’t the case. Furthermore, the ratio of points to dollars changes depending on how you choose to redeem your rewards.
Limited Payouts
The MyPoints points system can also lead you to feel like you’re not making progress. If you’re working toward a $25 gift card, for example, you’ll need 3,650 points to redeem it. It could take you 30 or more surveys to reach your goal.
While you may think that you’re getting money for free, you’re actually being paid to work. Survey payouts are typically much lower than minimum wage, so there are more cost-effective ways to spend your time if you’re serious about making money.
Pricing
Most survey sites allow you to redeem your points for the same amount of money in a variety of forms. A $25 gift card and $25 PayPal credit, for example, might both cost 2,500 points. MyPoints doesn’t offer this kind of standardized pricing โ you’ll be charged more for cash than for a gift card.
This makes it more difficult to earn cash on MyPoints, especially considering that points aren’t as valuable as they seem. If you’re planning to redeem your rewards as cash, you should consider signing up for another service.
MyPoints Review: The Bottom Line
MyPoints is an outstanding survey site, and it also offers a number of other options for making money. Between videos, surveys, games, and more, you’ll have more than enough ways to get points.
That said, you shouldn’t sign up for a MyPoints account hoping to dramatically increase your income. Instead, think of the platform as a convenient way to make a little extra money on the side. Keep in mind that you’ll pay more for cash than a gift card. Try to redeem a gift card for a purchase you were already planning to make.
If you’re interested in getting rewards with MyPoints, sign up today to start earning points. You’ll get an extra $5 once you finish your fifth survey, helping you get even closer to your first reward. Remember to check back regularly for new surveys and offers.

I’ve been using MyPoints for years, they used to be a really great site for actually being able to easily redeem points, but over the past year, it has become increasingly harder to earn points, i.e. rewards… I used to be able to sit and fill out a few surveys and complete a few other activities if I needed to redeem a reward in a relatively short amount of time, but you can’t do that anymore. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’m disqualified on almost 99% of the surveys… I’m about to close my account with them. There are other similar sites out now that have way surpased MyPoints… They have become a total waste of time.
