Money Done Right was recently given $100 by the Rockstar Finance Community Fund to “turn it into some joy and happiness for someone who really needs it.”

My mind immediately went to victims of the recent wildfires that have spread across Southern California.

We were minorly affected by these recent fires as you can read here.

The Thomas Fire

The Thomas Fire, still raging in Ventura County, is expected to become the largest wildfire even in California by acres burned.

At one point, it became a firestorm, meaning that it was powerful enough to generate its own weather.

During this time, it was advancing at a rate of an acre per second.

It has destroyed over 1,000 structures and has forced nearly 100,000 people to evacuate their homes.

How We Contributed

I went back and forth on how to contribute to fire victims.

Because I’m only working with $100, I considered contributing to a GoFundMe page set up on or behalf of a Thomas Fire victim who lost his or her home.

But after speaking with some local firemen on the issue, I decided to donate $100 to the United Way of Ventura County Thomas Fire Fund.

100% of the donations to this fund will go to Thomas Fire victims.
